7. Identify the literary devices in the following sentences and comment on them:

a) “they have cold weather, they have cold hearts”
b) “Cold; tempest; wild beasts in the forest” + “do not leave the path because of the bears, the wild boar, the starving wolves”
c) “A bed, a stool, a table”
d) “there are no flowers to put in front of them, no flowers grow there” + “It was a hand, chopped off at the wrist, a hand toughened with work”

  • a) The literary device is "cold hearts" it's a metaphor meaning that they have no pity for others / they're mean. The sentence is to make you feel like because of the cold weather their hearts became cold as well.

    d) The literary device is "a hand toughened with work" it's also a metaphor meaning that he worked so much that he is super strong
