a- The colonies were ruled by a governor who represents Great Britain.

b- The Governors were appointed by the Queen.

c- The people in the colonies were asked to serve in the British army.

d- After the independance of India it was decided to form a new organisation called the British Commonwealth.

e- As independance came, each former colony was advised to join the Commonwealth.

f- The leaders of  Commonwealth nations were invited to attend a conference every two years.
